Geraniums, from the pelargonium family, originate from the Mediteranean and Africa. They are an evergreen plant which like sunshine and survive super well in tubs! They are easy maintained by cutting off dead heads and leaves to prevent fungal diseases, and can be over wintered indoors or in a greenhouse.

Geraniums should be pruned hard in the spring, down by 10-15cm. This is also a good time to take cuttings. Cut above a node or junction, and on the section you want to plant, cut off the last stem at it's junction to give a quick start- this is full of growth hormones.
If there are too many leaves, snap some off with a clear cut, as well as any budding stems, as this will absorb too much growth energy. Plant around the edge of a tub and cover with a snadwich bag to create a little mini propegator!
In the meantime, enjoy them! Only €0.99 in Holand!!!
